[00:00:02] Well, hello and welcome to the Beacon Project. This is Chaplain Victor once again or your chip the chaplet in your pocket. Welcome to another encouraging life giving episode of the chaplet in your pocket. Today we will talk about the Bible life recovery step number three.
[00:00:29] Let us pray.
[00:00:31] Oh God in heaven, thank you so much. We are here again, myself and my lovely listeners, thank you so much for this opportunity. I am requesting your blessing please over this edition of Chaplain in your pocket.
[00:00:51] Thank you God in Jesus name again.
[00:00:56] Amen.
[00:00:58] Well, welcome once again and today we're looking at the Bible life recovery step number three.
[00:01:06] So let's go ahead and repeat the step number three which goes like this.
[00:01:15] I made the decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of God, aka the boss.
[00:01:34] Today we're looking at Joshua 24, verses 14 through 15, which says, so the fear of the Lord.
[00:01:42] So fear the Lord and serve him wholeheartedly. Put away forever the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates river and in Egypt serve the Lord alone.
[00:02:02] But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods AKA small G your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates?
[00:02:19] Or will it be the gods small G of the Amorites in whose land you now live?
[00:02:29] But as for me and my family, we will serve the lord.
[00:02:38] That's Joshua 24, 14, 15.
[00:02:42] Let's notice the elements in step number three.
[00:02:45] First of all, make a decision.
[00:02:49] Nothing happens in life unless we make the decision to pursue whatever it is we're trying to pursue. The first element in step number three is making a decision.
[00:03:07] The second element in step number three is surrender my will and life over.
[00:03:16] You see, without surrender there can be no victory until we surrender. Because. Okay, let's make this real. We either surrender to the boss or we surrender to the other one.
[00:03:40] So that's the second element in step number three. We need to surrender my will and my life over.
[00:03:51] Too many of us, unfortunately do not want to surrender. We think it's okay, it's our will and yes, it is our will. But we're either going to surrender it to a the boss or the other one.
[00:04:10] So that's my will and my life. The third element in step number three is to the care of God, AKA you can't stand it, the boss.
[00:04:29] Those are three elements right there. We need to make a decision. We need to surrender our will and our lives over.
[00:04:37] Because obviously if we even made it to step number three, it is quite evident that our will and our lives probably need a little help.
[00:04:51] The biblical reference to today mentions certain steps.
[00:04:58] 1 fear the Lord 2 serve him wholeheartedly, 3 put away forever the idols and 4 serve the Lord aka I'll give you one guess.
[00:05:23] All right.
[00:05:26] The boss alone.
[00:05:29] So how do we prepare for step three anyway? Well, we prepare by thoroughly doing steps one and two.
[00:05:36] If we're not convinced that we are powerless and that our lives are unmanageable, then we're not ready for step number three.
[00:05:46] We prepare for step three by fully accepting our powerlessness and our ability, our inability to manage our own lives.
[00:06:04] However, as I mentioned in a previous step, just because we are powerless does not mean that we are helpless.
[00:06:19] Let's look at Proverbs 18, verse 10.
[00:06:24] What does that say?
[00:06:27] The name of the Lord is a strong fortress.
[00:06:31] The godly run to him and are safe. Step three is an affirmative step. It is time to make a decision. Our lives may have many beautiful rewarding relationships that are being ruined by our addictive and compulsive behavior.
[00:06:56] We must not be discouraged by these discoveries though.
[00:07:00] Instead we can allow these discoveries to to prompt our surrender to God.
[00:07:12] Oh my friends, we have been considering step number three in the Bible Life recovery journey which once again the step number three says, I made the decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of God, AKA the boss.
[00:07:40] You see, I have to make decisions for myself. Somebody else can't make decisions for me and I can't make decisions for somebody else.
[00:07:48] I have to make the decision to turn my will over to the care of the boss.
